- July 8 to October 3 brought no reported clean revision or indie launch scheme
- Sephora took Accelerate 2026 entries from March 2 through March 31
- 41 labels have finished the scheme, and over half reached Sephora shelves
Forty-one is the number to hold in mind. From July 8 to October 3, 2026, we found no reported update to a clean standard and no new accelerator cohort or indie program at Sephora, Ulta, Credo or Target. The latest relevant retail action stays the March 2, 2026 opening of applications for the 2026 Sephora Accelerate Program.
That date carries weight because Accelerate is where small, plant-led skincare often learns whether it can function in prestige retail. Sephora presents the scheme as a United States led brand incubation program for prestige beauty brands in early stages and not yet widely distributed. The 2026 application round ended March 31. Finalists were expected to be named in summer, with no dated announcement available. Applicants must be at least 18 and have a North American incorporated company.
The totals so far are specific. So far 41 brands across makeup, skincare, hair care and fragrance have graduated from Sephora Accelerate. Sephora said that more than half of Accelerate graduates have launched with Sephora to date. For founders working with botanicals, that route from early formula to all-door distribution tests whether sourcing and stability choices survive at scale. Decisions about soil and raw materials made at the start tend to persist, or fail, once volumes rise.
Later results show what that expansion can look like. EADEM expanded to every Sephora store and its Le Chouchou lip balm entered the Sephora top 10 lip moisturizers for 2025. Kulfi is reported as now an all door brand with a top 3 lip stain. Topicals, an alum of the 2021 Accelerate cohort, had one of the best selling eye masks at Sephora last year. The 7 Virtues joined Accelerate and then launched with Sephora in 2018. The Sephora newsroom post names MAED as the 2026 Sephora Beauty Grant winner.
The program began a decade ago as the first prestige retail incubator for female founders. Since its start, the Sephora Accelerate Program has helped bring forward new and often underrepresented perspectives and voices in the beauty industry. That statement was published by the Sephora Newsroom.
The broader clean picture also held steady during the window. Ulta Beauty says each brand certified as having Clean Ingredients meets its Made Without List covering substances such as parabens and phthalates. Ulta Conscious Beauty covers five standards named as Clean Ingredients, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Sustainable Packaging and Positive Impact. The Credo Clean Standard requires brands to screen against a 2,700 item dirty list ranging from aluminum to talc.
The next point to monitor is selection rather than standards. Who made the 2026 Sephora Accelerate cohort, and whether indie skincare brands were included, was not stated. The joint Know Better, Do Better ingredient report reviewed 318,000 ingredient listings across more than 8,500 products and was released Oct 22 with no year given, so it cannot be placed in the summer window.
For now, the routine is unchanged: read the label, weigh the claim, buy with care, and watch which young brands take hold.
